28th September

 I really like doing this journal. I am a talkative overthinker with a lot to say about everything, but not everyone wants to hear how activity task 2 went in great detail, especially as most of my friends either haven't done it yet or don't do graphics and don't have a freeking clue what I am talking about. It is nice to have an outlet for all those thoughts.

Today I watched the stage meeting and the lectures then did activity task one. As last week I rushed the tasks a little and then found I had time left, I was careful to take my time and do it all properly. I looked at lots of different pieces of work on multiple platforms. I really enjoyed doing this. There is something really nice about just looking at lots of lovely pieces of work. I struggle a little to describe why I liked my chosen favourite, but I figured out a way to express my self pretty quickly. 

Whilst doing this, I had a teams chat in the background with some of my friends from the course. we chatted about what we were doing but also about other stuff, and it was really lovely to have some company. 

Despite purposefully slowing down and chatting the whole time, I had still finished everything by 1.30pm. It feels wrong to be finished that early on one of our main working days. A lot of my friends think we have tonnes of work, but I don't feel like I have enough to do. I should point out I went to a private school where it was the norm to stay until 5 doing extra classes, then go home and do 2 hours of homework, then spend most of your weekend studying too, so it is probably more about what I am used to that a lack of work!

 Today I worked on the poster brief. I went into the studio early this morning to get started without distraction. I decided to work on paper untill I had a set layout because I liked working that way in the workshop the day before. I found this worked well again and within 2 hours, I had decided exactly what I was going to do. Felt pens and layout paper is definitely the way forward for me! This is a bit of a break though as layouts are something I struggle with. I already feel much more confident in this area than I did last year.  I also had a little chat with another student doing the same typographer and a member of staff who said they were one of his favourite practicioners. These were fun and interesting, but did not directly effect what I created. I then watched the guest lecture in the afternoon. 15th October

Last night fate brought me the answer to all my problems!! I missed the bus coming back from Badminton and didn't want to wait in the cold, so I snuck into the library. Whilst waiting in there, I casually picked up a copy of Creative Review and found the most beautiful contents page I have ever seen! I know exactly what I am doing for the contents in my book now!  Today we had textworks. I got up early and watched the lecture before the meeting. I struggled again with the visual notes but found the topic interesting and easy to understand. In the meeting, we got our essay brief. I have no clue what I am going to do for that yet! I should probably start thinking about that sooner rather than later! I understand what I need to do though so that is ok.  Then we were given part of a radio program to listen to, which I found interesting. The seminar was fun but not partly constructive.  I planned to work on my publication more today but I felt really sleepy so didn't.

21st October

I am all finished! I checked I was happy with everything first thing this morning, then went into the print room to get assistance printing it in the right way to make a book. I then used thread to bind it. I handed it in this afternoon!  I was worried about the printing and binding as I know that can easily go wrong, but I didn't have any problems and I finished it all really quickly.  I am very happy with my outcome. It looks very professional. I didn't think I was going to do very well in this module as I have always struggled with type but I am very pleased with the progress I have made. I am nom longer going to say "I can't do type!"
